- Introducing yourself is one of the first things you learn in A1 level German. A simple introduction usually starts with Ich heiße... (My name is...) or Mein Name ist... (My name is...). For example, Ich heiße Anna (My name is Anna). Next, you can say where you come from: Ich komme aus England (I come from England) or Ich bin aus Spanien (I am from Spain). If you want to mention your nationality, you can say Ich bin Deutscher/Deutsche (I am German – male/female). a1 level german To talk about your profession, you can say Ich bin Lehrer/Lehrerin (I am a teacher) or Ich arbeite als Ingenieur (I work as an engineer). If you are a student, you can say Ich bin Student/Studentin. If you want to mention your hobbies, you can say Meine Hobbys sind Fußball und Musik (My hobbies are football and music). A full introduction in A1 level German might sound like this: "Hallo! Ich heiße Anna. Ich komme aus England und ich wohne in Berlin. Ich bin Lehrerin. Meine Hobbys sind Lesen und Reisen. Schön, dich kennenzulernen!" (Hello! My name is Anna. I come from England, and I live in Berlin. I am a teacher. My hobbies are reading and traveling. Nice to meet you!). Learning to introduce yourself correctly in A1 level German is an important step toward building confidence in conversations.
